The Old Chestnut cabin is a great mountain getaway. It's a authentic 19th-century log cabin with modern amenities at Lake Junaluska, NC, 5 minutes from Waynesville and a half hour from Asheville. Very cozy!
Accessibility note: You have to climb 30+ stairs from the street parking, and the interior stairs to the second floor are very steep, too steep for toddlers and dogs. It's a great place, but it's not for everyone.
