Summary: We had a very pleasant stay for two nights at the Stonehouse Manor late season at Popham Beach. Our room had a beautiful view of the mouth of the Kennebunk River. In the morning we lay in bed watching the sun rise on the autumn colored hillside by Fort Popham through the large bay window. It was quiet. We strolled the expansive grounds with our coffee admiring the botanical variation particularly the huge old copper beech in front of the manor. A homemade breakfast of Rachels blueberry muffins, fruit, scrambled eggs and sausage made by Rachel's husband and daughter awaited us inside. We walked down the road to Spinney's and onto the beach then walked the beach to the state park and back. The beach was largely empty, with a wind from the west southwest. Clear and sunny. About a 2+ hour relaxing, shell collecting walk. We then drove into Bath and visited the Maine Maritime Museum and had dinner at an excellent Thai restaurant just off Front St. The next morning was pretty much the same except for the hot fresh crisp made from fresh picked honeycrisp apples as an added addition to breakfast. Overall we had an excellent stay and would highly recommend the Stonehouse Manor as a place to stay when visiting Popham Beach, ME.
